Eleanor is 32 weeks old today!
She enjoys sitting on the floor and playing with her toys, but isn’t showing any desire to be mobile. She can turn all the way around while sitting and scoot a few inches, and that’s good enough for her. She still hates being on her tummy, and when I try to give her time to practice crawling, she just cries while scooting herself backwards. I don’t push it though, and I really don’t mind if she isn’t in any hurry to crawl.
She’s starting to be quite the mimic. She likes to growl back when growled at, and last night while my friend was over she was talking about how her brother called her youngest brother “bubba,” so I said “bubba,” and then right away Eleanor chimed right in with her own “bubba,” as clear as day. It was as if while she was listening to us she thought to herself, “Hey, that’s a sound that I know how to make.” It was pretty incredible, and has me really excited about her learning to talk. I’ve decided I want to try to encourage her to mimic more, and what better place to start than reinforcing “mama” over and over again. She’s said “mama” before, but now we just need to help her learn its meaning. I’ll be babbling “mama maaaama mamamamama” constantly for the next few days and see where it gets us.

As she is able to scoot more and more: when shes sitting on the floor playing put her next to something short and stable that she can grab onto(like a coffee table). She may not want to crawl but may go right into walking.
