A bit of good news
While I was sitting at the clinic waiting for my blood draw for my glucose test I got a text from my sister. She is 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. This came as a bit of a shock because her due date isn’t until March 4th, but I’m hoping this will mean that she will have the baby while I am back in Phoenix during the later half of February. Glucose test this morning...
Of course my midwife’s ONE instruction to me was not to eat a sugary breakfast, and just to spite me my body has been having horrific cravings for every sweet thing I lay eyes on. As we were planning this pregnancy, when we both had well-paying full time employment, we thought we were so prepared. We had already saved a bunch, and we had a whole 9 months to keep saving. Then I got laid off about two weeks after taking a positive pregnancy test. If I would have kept my job, we could have put an additional $10,000 away. $10,000. That’s a lot of money, at least for us.

24 Weeks
24 weeks today! We have passed the point of 50%+ viability if anything were to go wrong. I breathed a sigh of relief as I woke up this morning. I know it’s kind of silly, but after my fears of miscarriage earlier in the pregnancy, this feels like a huge milestone. As long as someone is there to help guide you to her I don’t think anyone would protest, but you have to be prepared for the fact that if the doctors think there is a medical need to get the baby’s airway cleared first you just have to roll with it.
